Meet the Tutors - #1 and #2

Now that our amazing tutor line-up has been revealed (if you’re wondering what we’re talking about, check out the line-up here…and subscribe to this blog!) we are going to start letting you know about each tutor in more detail.
We are very excited to have many leading Australian and international milliners attending the 2012 forum and are sure you will enjoy listening to their stories and learning more about the art of millinery from some of the best and most up-and-coming people in the business.

Introducing…Carol Wilkes

Carol is a Textile Artist based in Queensland, Australia who specialises in ‘free motion embroidery’ and refers to herself as an experimental embroiderer and surface establishment technician. Using fabric and thread as her medium she designs and embroiders complex, multi-layered images into one off contemporary wall art and fashion statements.

She has studied, practiced, researched and experimented with many forms of textile and embroidery using traditional techniques in contemporary ways. Professionally, she has been tutoring for many years and has recently returned from teaching in Taiwan, Korea and Japan.

Carol reflects an open playful approach to her roles of Artist and Tutor and never offers restraint in her work. Her expectation is to excite, inspire and motivate the viewer and participant to produce ‘stitches as art’.

Carol will be running a workshop on machine sculptured crinoline and edges, dangles and more.

Introducing…Eia Radosavjievic

She is also a millinery professor at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Eia’s work is most recently published in 500 Felt Objects.

Eia will be running a workshop on French Couture Millinery as well as two workshops on pattern drafting.
