Meet the Tutors #11 and #12

Introducing…Lina Stein
Australian/German by origin, Lina will travel from Westport, Ireland, where she has been based for many years, to attend the 2012 International Millinery Forum in Wagga Wagga.

She has been creating hats for the past 20 years and is recognised as a light in the world of Irish millinery through her flamboyant and extravagant creations.

Lina received her classic training at TAFE in Sydney and in the Australia Opera under Milliners Connie to diversify. She now trains aspiring hat makers in the millinery arts and runs master classes from her studio in Ireland.

 Her creations have received many accolades, including ‘Best Hat’ at the Galway Races in 2009, ‘Hatty Award’ recipient from the 2008 Hat-Life Magazine and has had her hats exhibited from Stuttgart, Germany to the Phoenix Bead Museum Charity Show in the US in 2002.

Lina will be running workshops on using Sinamay to create moulded hats, head pieces and millinery trimmings.

Introducing…Waltraud Reiner
Waltraud is a Melbourne milliner with over 20 years millinery experience. She founded the Melbourne School of Millinery in 1994 and was part of the team that developed a national accredited certificate in millinery, which she taught for 15 years at Kangan Batman Tafe. She also founded Hat Extravaganza in 2006 and established the Blue Hat Project in the same year to raise awareness of depression and the Australian national depression initiative, Beyond Blue.

Waltraud travels nationally and internationally to teach hat making and the use of creative expression.  She is also currently studying for a counselling degree.

Waltraud will be running workshops on working with Jin Sin, Sinamay and Paris Cloth and free shaping felt.
