Meet the Tutors - #9 and #10


Introducing…Louise Macdonald
Melbourne milliner, Louise Macdonald, has more than 20 years of millinery experience and 15 years of teaching under her hat! She trained and worked as a costume milliner in London before returning to Melbourne where she creates hats that are the ultimate in beauty and style. 

Her creations have been worn by stars such as Tom Cruise, Minnie Driver, Nick Nolte and Emma Thompson and two of her hats were purchased by the National Gallery of Victoria in 2008 to display as part of its collection.

She was awarded 3rd prize in the Professional Millinery competition at Melbourne's Spring Racing Carnival 2008 and was a finalist in 2009.

Louise will be running workshops on dyeing, ribbon origami and making your own blocks for fascinators and small form hats.


Introducing…Carole Maher
A qualified Couture Milliner from Sydney, Carole’s millinery journey began at London’s Royal College of Fashion where she studied Millinery I and II with Royal Warranted Rose Corey, and qualified at Sydney Institute.

Carole’s commissions include hats for the national ‘Spring Lamb’ print and video advertising campaign for a prime time show on Australian station, Channel 7, and her creations regularly win fashions on the field events, including the recent ‘Best Millinery’ award at the 2011 Ladies Day at Randwick. She also makes hats for Royal Ascot and major society weddings.

Prior to taking up millinery, Carole was a celebrated CEO at an advertising agency in Hong Kong.

Carole will be running two workshops on couture feather flowers.
