Meet the Tutors #13, #14 and #15


Introducing…Rosie Boylan
Rosie Boylan is a Sydney based headwear designer working across the fashion, stage and screen industries. With 30 year of experience as a hat maker, Rosie is a committed educator of period headwear at NIDA and fashion headwear at Ultimo TAFE

In 2008, Rosie was awarded the prestigious Churchill Fellowship to study headwear design in Japan, Italy, England, France and America. Her headwear was featured in Moulin Rouge in 2000 and Australia in 2008. In 2011 Rosie collaborated with fashion label ‘sass and bide’ with their spring range, created headwear for the stage musical Love Never Dies and is currently working on the feature film The Great Gatsby.

Rosie is holding workshops mastering top hat silhouettes in wire and the relationship between face shapes and flattering hat styles.

Introducing…Neil Grigg
Neil is a milliner from Sydney who has created thousands of hats for brides, race-goers and celebrities alike over his 30-year career. He has created headwear for theatre productions such as Miss Saigon, 42nd Street, Glimpses and Les Miserables and his creations has been winners and finalists in many fashions on the field events throughout the country.

Renowned for his beautiful handmade flowers, enchanting feather work and an endless imagination, Neil’s headpieces bring a particular individual style for his clients. His bridal wear ranges from delicate headpieces through to flowing full-length veils and his race wear channels a vintage elegance that has a theatrical lilt and individuality.

Neil will be running workshops on using Esparterie in millinery and using ordinary blocks to create extraordinary hats.

Introducing…Serena Lindeman

Serena is a milliner from Melbourne, Australia who has also been teaching millinery since 2003.

Serena has been based in central Melbourne since 1999 and specialises in designing and making memorable headwear. Her career highlight was winning the Myer Fashions on the Field Millinery Award at Flemington in 2006.

Serena is running workshops on using the elements of design to develop individuality in millinery and contemporary hand forming techniques for parisisal.
